Preview: Wake Up Gigs - for parents who miss the live music experience

Enjoy new artists and bands performing live in a baby-friendly atmosphere at Concrete Space in Hackney

THERE’S nothing like a gig to wake you up, and no one needs waking up more than parents of small children.

That’s the thinking behind ‘Wake Up Gigs’, a series of live gigs by respected artists especially for parents, with kids welcome, too.

Their first event was held last November, where parents, grandparents, guardians and babies bopped along to the melodies of MALKA, Shanade Morrow and Pips. It proved such a success that another has been announced for 5 March, with profits going to the children’s charity Barnardo’s.

Between the respectable hours of one and five in the afternoon, Concrete Space in Shoreditch, will shake to the rhythms of Joel Sarakula and Itchy Teeth, plus other special guests. A very welcome break from the sound of screaming babies.

Tickets cost £12.50 for adults, £5.50 for children. Babies/toddlers/infants go free. 'Wake Up Gigs' is on at the baby-friendly time of 1pm to 5pm, at Concrete Space, in Shoreditch.
