Stoke Newington Music Festival 2016

Three days of world-class music from over a hundred performers come to venues across Stoke Newington

STOKE Newington’s bars, pubs and restaurants are set to rock as the neighbourhood’s very own music festival returns from 21 to 23 October.

Set up to celebrate the vibrant and varied local music scene, the Stoke Newington Music Festival stretches from Stamford Hill to Church Street and down the High Street.

This year, you can catch live shows from Thurston Moore of Sonic Youth, Sterling Roswell of Spaceman 3 and band Clever Thing (video above). You’ll find local favourites including Pink Cigar and The Pacers at The Mascara Bar, or venture to the festival’s less established venues like St Paul’s church hall, where family-friendly performances will include poetry and acoustic sets.

Elsewhere you’ll find intimate performances in cafes and restaurants, hip-hop DJ sets, raucous guitar bands, harmonising trios, as well as street-performing superstars and reggae selectors.

Promoting talent and local venues isn’t the festival’s only mission, however. Each year, it also raises money for the sexual health and wellbeing charity, Brook. Festival-goers can text ‘SNMF16 £5’ to 70070 to donate £5 to Brook.

Stoke Newington Music Festival runs from 21-23 October. The event is free although a few participating venues may charge entry.
