Families can enjoy a spectacular programme of free and fun activities across Dalston from 28 May to 4 June

YOUNGSTERS will be spoilt for choice with exciting things to see and do at the free Dalston Children’s Festival.

Taking place across the two weekends of 28 May and 4 June, Dalston Square will be transformed into a giant playground.

Festival highlights include: art, craft and cooking workshops at Dalston Eastern Curve garden with local artists and chefs; a portrait-drawing workshop led by Art Hoppers in Dalston Square; children’s music workshop at Vortex Jazz Club; traditional canal boat painting workshops and boat trips around Kingsland Basin; and a performance of ‘Kirikou’ by the Hackney French Youth Theatre.

Kids can also swap their favourite books at the Ship of Adventures; decorate carnival head-dresses at a workshop led by Tropical Isles carnival group and join an informal comics workshop at Dalston CLR James Library.

Dalston Children’s Festival is a community-led event and has been organised by the Dalston Children’s Network (DCN), a collective of organisations that have an on-going offer for children and young people in Dalston, and is supported and funded by Hackney Council.
