Hackney Design Awards 2016: People's Choice shortlist unveiled
Get voting for your favourite Hackney building or public space to win the People's Choice category
LOVE Hackney’s diverse architecture? People are being encouraged to vote for their favourite building or public space as this year’s People’s Choice in the biennial Hackney Design Awards.
Fifty different schemes were originally nominated, these have now been shortlisted by an expert judging panel that selected projects based on their high design quality and contribution to the surrounding area.
Sixteen buildings and spaces have been shortlisted for this year’s awards and the entry that receives the most votes will be announced as the People’s Choice 2016.
Since its launch 12 years ago, the prestigious awards have helped to celebrate great design and architecture across the borough. Previous People's Choice award-winners include the Writer's Shed, E8, in 2014 (pictured above); and the Black and White Building, EC2A, in 2014 (pictured in gallery below).
The line-up this year ranges from new builds and period conversions, to a community centre and nature reserve. Check out the gallery below for all the contenders for the award.
Vote for your favourite Hackney building or space by 17 October.
