EFG London Jazz Festival 2016

The annual music festival showcases jazz talent from around the world in Hackney venues

JAZZ hands at the ready. The jazz festival, named by The Guardian as ‘one of the best in the world’, is coming to Hackney.

Now in its 24th year, the EFG London Jazz Festival takes place from 11-20 November, and will be taking over the capital’s best venues – including right here in the borough.

Don’t miss the rare opportunity to see Andy Sheppard and Laurent Cugny perform together in celebration of the big band music of Gil Evans at Rich Mix on the festival’s opening night on 11 November.

One of London’s most celebrated young jazz musicians, Shabaka Hutchings, brings his stellar band The Comet Is Coming to XOYO on 15 November, while The Hackney Colliery Band will be raising the roof at Village Underground on 17 November.

At the Barbican, meanwhile, catch everything from film screenings to fusion performances. So get jiving.
