Shop till you drop this Christmas in Hackney

Keep it local & get all your gifts in Hackney this year plus there's carol singing & Santa's grotto


HACKNEY is home to some of the most popular markets in London, and with a huge range of independent stores and boutiques, plus late night openings and shopping events throughout December, there's only one place to get all your gifts this Christmas.

Whether it’s tasty ingredients for a traditional Christmas dinner, foods for an alternative feast, high-end specialist ingredients or just the basics, you’ll find it all at Hackney’s excellent food markets and shops.

If you’re looking for one-off gifts for all ages, then shop local and explore the wonderfully unique variety of small stores and pop-up shops that are dotted around the borough for vintage threads, arts and crafts, jewellery, books, toys and loads more.

Christmas at Ridley Road Market

8am-7pm. Throughout December

Add a dash of exotic flavour to your Christmas dinner with Ridley Road Market's, variety of international produce. Try some Caribbean seasoning on your turkey or add some yam to compliment the classic roast potatoes, and also pick up bargains on gifts, household goods and more.


Stoke Newington Late Night Shopping

Until 8pm. 4, 11 & 18 December

Stoke Newington High Street shops are staying open late every Thursday in the lead-up to Christmas with special offers and surprises to celebrate the festive season.


Hackney Heart's Homemade Christmas Market

10am-5pm. Friday, 5 - Sunday, 7 December

Snap-up handmade Christmas cards, decorations and vintage party clothes at stalls in St John-at-Hackney churchyard. Not forgetting the delicious festive food and drinks on offer, plus there's a Santa's grotto on 6 December. 


Clissold House Christmas Market

10am-3pm, Saturday, 6 December

Clissold House plays host to some of the best retailers in the area, selling items for gifts and stocking fillers. Enjoy the traditional winter treats of mince pies and mulled wine and catch a glimpse of Father Christmas at Santa's Grotto.


The Midwinter Fair

12noon-7pm. Saturday, 6 December

The St John of Jerusalem Choir will serenade shoppers in Victoria Park this weekend. Plus there's a visit from Santa. Enjoy a glass of mulled wine, purchase some homemade cakes and meet local authors at Victoria Park Books.


Stoke Newington Christmas Farmers' Market

10am-2.30pm. 6, 12 & 20 December

Buy seasonal produce straight from the farm, select a Christmas tree and stock up on gifts, all in one place. The market, held in the grounds of St. Paul's Church, Stoke Newington, will also be selling organic turkeys and all the trimmings, award-winning cheeses, natural beauty products, home-made chocolates and much more.
